Walk into Barney's and you're met with a wall covered in framed burger awards. Best of Burger with Most Bacon Possible on Top, Best of Burger That is Made with Tofu But Thank God You'd Never Know It, Best of Burger to Shut the Kids Up for Six Minutes, and on it goes.

Always a fan of a joint that has plastic menus, I like Barney's. Melinda had been hankering for some real red meat after having spent months in Mad Cow Diseased London so Barney's seemed like the obvious choice. Mr. Kalmar kicked the meal off with a healthful for the tummy appetizer of steak fries. Mmm mmm, good. Big, crispy on the outside, and excellent dunked into a gourmet mixture of Tabasco and castup. Next along came the burgers and salads. Order bacon on your burger and you've got the whole hogosaorus practicing a delicate balancing act on your plate. None of us were complaining. Thumbs up all around for the cow burgers, turkey burgers, and chicken burgers. We didn't explore the tofu, and never will (but they do have a large selection). The salads are presented in a trough, and the choices are great: Thai, Spinach, Greek, etc.

Throw in a glass of wine, and tip, and all in all the bill was $13 each. Really quite reasonable for dinner.

Very kid friendly, and for those sunny days, the Noe Valley location has a nice patio for sitting outside.
