We had the pleasure of hosting founder of Strategic Investment Group, Orchestra of the Americas and former Chief Investment Officer of the World Bank Hilda Ochoa-Brillembourg at a salon funded by a grant from Templeton World Charity Foundation. In support of of the Foundation’s Economics and Human Flourishing initiative, which funds projects related to the study of free markets and entrepreneurialism as they related to personal freedom, we invited Hilda and several performing members of Orchestra of the Americas to discuss her life’s work, including why music and serving others are both such key elements.
During Susan’s fascinating interview with Hilda, we were treated to multiple musical interludes by current performing members of Orchestra of the Americas, which acts as a conservatory alternative for musicians in low-income areas of the world. We also got to hear from Hilda about her book, Delivering Alpha, and how she’s incorporated access to an MBA program into the Orchestra of the Americas, so artists can not only be trained musically but also get access to higher level education.
What a privilege to experience a musical holiday salon with such an extraordinary woman surrounded by her family and the NYC POSTHOC community. Hilda, a Venezuelan immigrant, was the first single mother to attend Harvard, which began her journey of incredible achievement and service.
